Suspect Reportedly Wounded In Deputy-Involved Shooting In Yorba Linda

YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com) — A suspect was reportedly wounded in a deputy-involved shooting Saturday in Yorba Linda.

The shooting took place around 2 p.m. in the parking lot of a Denny's in the 12000 block of Oakcrest Circle.

Following the shooting, the suspect fled in a vehicle and a chase ensued.

Authorities said the pursuit terminated on the eastbound 91 Freeway near the Coal Canyon exit.

It was unclear what the suspect was originally wanted for.

A customer at the Denny's told CBS2's Greg Mills that officers came into the restaurant and told patrons they were not allowed to leave while they conducted an investigation.

It was unclear if the suspect fired at law enforcement officials.

No deputies were injured during the shooting or chase.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition is unknown, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

All officials would tell Cristy Fajardo, reporting for KCAL9, is that "the suspect is alive."

The OC DA's office is investigating the incident.
