Barstow Motorcyclist Killed In Garden Grove Crash

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — A 28-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he collided with a vehicle in Garden Grove, police said.

Sgt. Fischer of the Garden Grove Police Department said in a press release that the crash happened about 12:50 a.m. at the intersection of Springdale Street and Chapman Avenue.

The victim was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as Derek Williams of Barstow.

Fischer said the occupants of the vehicle were uninjured.

The statement said Williams was headed west on Chapman Avenue when his bike rear-ended the vehicle.

Investigators believe Williams, who was thrown from his bike, had been traveling at a high rate of speed.

Witnesses to the accident were asked to contact Garden Grove police Investigator Adam Zmija at (714) 741-5847.
