2 Men Arrested In Suspected Homicide Of Long Beach Man, 41
LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Two men have been arrested in connection to the suspected murder of a 41-year-old Long Beach man who died from injuries he suffered during an assault inside his home Tuesday.
Shawn Halloran, 23, and Marcus Word, 36, both of Long Beach, were taken into custody by Long Beach police late Wednesday. The men are suspected in the murder of Albert Carl III.
LBPD officers responded to the 700 block of Via Wanda at approximately 11:55 p.m. Tuesday to assist the Long Beach Fire Department with an unresponsive male adult.
Police say the initial call indicated the male might have been a victim of a battery.
Fleeing suspects were armed with a stick and a shotgun, according to an initial report.
The suspects, who were known to the victim, are believed to have forced their way into Carl's residence and became involved in a physical altercation with him.
After the suspects left the residence, a relative found the unresponsive victim on the floor and called paramedics
There were no obvious signs of trauma to the victim; however, he was not conscious or breathing when paramedics arrived.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Although the cause of death is not known at this time, the case is being investigated as a homicide and will be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney, who will determine what charges will be filed.
Halloran and Word were being held at the Long Beach Police Department jail in lieu of $1 million bail, according to sheriff's online jail records.
