2 Injured In Duarte Crash, Radiation Testing Equipment Found At Scene Not Dangerous

DUARTE (CBSLA.com) - Two people were injured and a hazardous materials team called after a commercial vehicle carrying a package marked 'radioactive' crashed into a car in Duarte Thursday.

L.A. County Fire Department officials determined the package contained equipment used to test for radiation. Its contents were not deemed dangerous, an official tells CBSLA.com.

The crash occurred near Las Lomas Road and Huntington Drive at approximately 1:30 p.m.

A standard 300-foot perimeter was set up around the area while responders investigated the contents of the package carried by the commercial vehicle. The perimeter has since been cleared.

The injured parties were taken to hospitals. Their condition remains unknown.

Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.
