1 Dead, 1 Injured In Palisades Highland Shooting

PALISADES HIGHLAND (CBSLA.com) — A man was killed and his female caregiver was wounded during a shooting Tuesday morning in the Palisades Highland area.

The shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. at a residence in the 1400 block of Paseo de Oro, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police believe the man shot his caregiver before turning the gun on himself.

Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene. The woman, who was shot several times, was airlifted to UCLA in serious condition for surgery, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Neither victim has been identified.

"There is no cause for concern in the community, this was not a random shooter loose in the community," Capt. Evangelyn Nathan said.

It was unclear what prompted the shooting.

No additional details were released.
