Police: Hoax Behind Report Of Illegal Fireworks At Hollywood Home

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A reported cache of illegal fireworks and other explosives said to be found at a Hollywood home was a hoax, according to police.

LAPD Rampart Division officers were called on scene around 8:30 a.m. to assist the bomb squad at the residence along the 800 block of North Kenmore Avenue near Melrose Avenue in the east Hollywood area, LAPD spokesman Richard French said.

Initial reports had indicated a possible pipe bomb may have been found along with the illegal fireworks, according to French.

No other information was available.
