Canyon Country Man Arrested For Allegedly Threatening To Kill His Girlfriend

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Thursday arrested a man suspected of threatening to kill his girlfriend.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies received a call at 12:15 a.m. from a woman who said her boyfriend, 38-year-old Scott Barrowclough of Canyon Country, threatened to kill her with knife.

"The victim went on to explain that in past weeks she had been the victim of domestic violence resulting in severe injuries, and although she thought that was an isolated incident, she was now being threatened by her boyfriend," Deputy Josh Dubin said in a statement. "The victim further explained to responding deputies that the suspect is known to carry a firearm and has an extensive criminal past."

Officials spotted Barrowclough driving northbound on Sierra Highway at Vasquez Canyon Road overnight. However, they lost sight of his vehicle, which was later located near Baker Canyon Road.

Sierra Highway was closed for several hours between Vasquez Canyon and Baker roads while authorities conducted a search. A chopper spotted Barrowclough, who was arrested without incident around 8 a.m.

A knife was recovered from his vehicle.

No other details were immediately released.
