Corona Special Education Teacher Accused Of Having Sex With Students On Campus

CORONA (CBSLA.com) — A 31-year-old Corona high school teacher has been accused of having sexual contact with several underage male students on campus.

Summer Michelle Hansen, a special education instructor at Centennial High School, was arrested Thursday afternoon on suspicion of statutory rape, oral copulation of a minor and other sex-related allegations for multiple encounters with teenagers.

Detectives were notified Tuesday that a former student had a relationship with the suspect.

Officers claim they identified numerous other victims under the age of 18 during the investigation.

Corona-Norco Unified School District officials, who placed Hansen on leave, said the suspect teaches an ungraded life skills class, but none of the accusations have come from those students.

Authorities have asked parents to talk to their children about any contact they may have had with Hansen.

Shanda Barnett, whose 15-year-old son attends Centennial, told KCAL9's Tom Wait that she was stunned to hear about the allegations against Hansen.

"They're supposed to be role models," she said. "They're supposed to be showing our kids how to live life properly."

Barnett added, "I just think it's really sad for this day and time that these professionals are doing what they're doing to our children."

On Hansen's Facebook page, she said she's been a teacher at Centennial since 2008. "Bad Teacher" starring Cameron Diaz is listed as her favorite movie, and Dateline's "To Catch a Predator" is her favorite television show.

A friend, however, said Hansen's page was hacked and she's being falsely accused.
