PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Summer is here and those searching for fun, outdoor events need look no further than the Levitt Pavilion in Los Angeles and Pasadena, where a series of 100 free outdoor concerts kicks off this weekend.

On June 15, songwriter, singer and composer Jimmy Webb is scheduled to perform his song "MacArthur Park" for the opening of the Levitt Pavilion Los Angeles concert series.

The lineup includes musicians performing blues, jazz greats, rap'n'grass, classics, children's, world music, and much more.

Shows begin at  8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Sunday shows begin at 8 p.m., with an additional children's show Sunday at 4 p.m.

This Sunday, the Levitt Pavilion Pasadena at Memorial Park is holding a contest to nominate the "best dad." To enter, write a short blurb or even a poem about why the nominee is the best dad around (300 words or less) and submit it to info@levittla-pas.org. The entrant chosen to win will have the opportunity to go up on stage at the opening day concert on Father's Day and read their submission. The Jazz Leaders will then perform a song dedicated to the winning dad.
