Azusa Restaurant Loses Liquor License Due To Drinking Scheme

AZUSA (CBSLA.com) — An Azusa restaurant lost its alcohol license after state investigators discovered it was running an illicit drinking scheme.

La Fonda Restaurant & Bar, located at 1044 W. Gladstone Street, had its license revoked because they charged customers a premium price for alcohol in exchange for the company of the bar's female employees, according to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

The owners of La Fonda told KCAL9's Juan Fernandez that three more Azusa bars run similar activities and they've been under scrutiny since 2010.

Recently, the bar was cited for the scheme and was ordered to close for two months.

La Fonda owners said this time they fear they may have to shut down for good.
