Woman Sexually Assaulted While Jogging In Santa Paula

SANTA PAULA (CBSLA.com) — Ventura County authorities Tuesday warned residents about a man wanted for sexually assaulting a female jogger.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, the woman was jogging around 9 a.m. Monday along Santa Paula Street, near Peck Road, when she was confronted by a man with a knife.

The suspect forced her into a nearby orchard, sexually assaulted her and then fled the scene on foot.

He was described as a white male, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build. The suspect was wearing dark clothing and a hooded sweatshirt at the time of the attack, officials said.

Detectives say Monday's crime could be related to a similar incident that occurred in the same area in February.

Anyone with information about the assault or the possible suspect should contact Detective Matt Delahuerta at (805)384-4740.
