Woman, 27, Accused Of Causing Brain Damage To Child Left In Hot Car

SANTA PAULA (CBSLA.com) — A 27-year-old Oxnard woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly causing "great bodily injury" to a 2-year-old child she left in a hot car last October.

Officials say Silvia Serratos was arrested just before 3 p.m. at the culmination of a joint investigation between Santa Paula Police investigators and Oxnard Police.

They said Serratos left her 2-year-old locked in a vehicle on October 14, 2012.

The child reportedly suffered "devastating permanent brain damage," according to an arrest warrant.

Serratos was booked into the Ventura County Jail.

She is being held on $100,000 bail.
