23-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed In Simi Valley Crash

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A 23-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured in a traffic collision in Simi Valley, authorities said.

A statement issued by the Simi Valley Police Department said the accident in the 1200 block of Madera Road was reported to authorities about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was headed north on Madera Road when he was struck by a car at the intersection of Cancun Street.

Both the deceased and the driver were taken to local hospitals. The motorcyclist's identity has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The statement identified the driver of the vehicle as 56-year-old Theresa Pizzano of Simi Valley. Authorities said she was cooperating with investigators.

The investigation is ongoing.

The statement said alcohol did not appear to have played a role in the crash. No further information was provided.
