LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Saturday continued to search for two men in connection with a carjacking in South Los Angeles.

Lt. Alex Vargas of the Los Angeles Police Department told KNX 1070 Newsradio that the incident occurred about 3:30 a.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. and Crenshaw boulevards.

“The victim of a carjacking was stopped at a red light at Crenshaw and MLK,” said Vargas. “The suspect’s approached the vehicle and assaulted him and put him out of the vehicle and drove off with the victim’s vehicle.”

According to LAPD Sgt. H. Fanfassian, the suspects sped south on Crenshaw Boulevard and Vernon Avenue before crashing into a wall of an El Pollo Loco restaurant.

No significant injuries resulted from the carjacking, Fanfassian said.
