Taxi Driver From Torrance Arrested On Suspicion Of Sexual Assault

MANHATTAN BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have released a photo of a Torrance resident arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.

A news release by the Manhattan Beach Police Department says that 38-year-old Sameh Shenouda was arrested last month after a woman reported being sexually assaulted by a cab driver in Manhattan Beach.

That alleged attack occurred about 3 a.m. on August 19.

Police say the victim came forward after seeing a news report of a similar crime in Redondo Beach.

Shenouda is a taxi driver who worked for United Taxi. According to the statement, the company has been very cooperative.

"Detectives suspect that he may be responsible for other offenses that went unreported and are asking that if anyone has been assaulted or touched inappropriately by a taxi driver in the South Bay in the past year to contact MBPD [Manhattan Beach Police Department] detectives," the statement said.

The MBPD may be reached by dialing (310) 802-5140.
