Annual South LA Thanksgiving Giveaway For The Needy In Jeopardy

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The EJ Jackson Foundation needs the public's help to provide food for thousands in South Los Angeles for the Thanksgiving holiday.

EJ Jackson, the founder of Jackson Limousine Service, organizes the annual Turkey Dinner Giveaway to provide turkey and all the fixings — including cornbread, greens, yams and cranberry sauce — to those in need.

"We try to give love and hope," said Jackson. "To have hopelessness is a bad thing."

So far, 10,000 turkeys have been ordered and will ship out soon, but the bill hasn't been paid.

In addition, Jackson doesn't even have 50 percent of the food he needs to feed the people who will line the streets.

The company is currently taking food and money donations for the giveaway, which will be held Tuesday at 3669 West Slauson Ave.
