Charles Manson Album May Get 2nd Pressing
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — An album featuring music written and performed by convicted mass murderer Charles Manson is selling so well out of a Highland Park boutique, the producer and shop co-owner says he is considering a second pressing.
Manuel Vasquez, 26, says the songs on the 40-minute vinyl album he is selling from his shop, Beauty Is Pain, have never been released before, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The album sleeve resembles a coloring book page that has been scribbled over by a toddler. Along the top, toward the left, is the name "Charles Manson." The 40-minute vinyl album features the cult killer performing, a sound that Vasquez describes as a "nasal, bluesy folk music-like sound."
Charles Manson and three of his followers dubbed the Manson Family were convicted of the killing seven people, including pregnant actress Sharon Tate. Vasquez told the Times he became interested in the case in junior high after overhearing family members discuss it.
After doing his research, Vasquez decided he didn't believe Manson masterminded the killing spree. The shop owner has befriended the cult killer in prison and communicated with him through the mail, the Times reported.
