Sherman Oaks Cadillac Dealership Goes Up In Flames
SHERMAN OAKS (CBSLA.com) — A Cadillac car dealership is on fire in Sherman Oaks.
The dealership is located in the 14000 block of Ventura Boulevard.
Derek Bell, reporting in Sky9, saw firefighters cut a hole in the dealership's roof to vent the fast-moving fire.
The building is under renovation and the fire is largely confined predominately to the attic, according to Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Traffic in the area is reportedly backed-up.
LAFD is working with the Department of Transportation to open one westbound lane and all eastbound lanes.
The fire occurred at Casa de Cadillac, a Valley landmark.
Rob Schmitt, reporting from the scene for CBS2 and KCAL9, noted the dealership is unique because they have kept the original facade on the building from 1948.
A firefighter told Schmitt "damage is not that extensive."
