Boy, 16, Shot Twice In The Chest In Santa Ana

SANTA ANA (CBS) — A 16-year-old boy was shot Thursday afternoon in a Santa Ana alley, police said.

The victim was shot twice in the chest.

The teen's wounds are not considered life-threatening.

The victim was walking with a 20-year-old man in the alley behind 1800 S. Cedar Ave. when the two were confronted by a man with a gun about 12:40 p.m., Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

The gunman, believed to be about 21 years old, opened fire for no apparent reason.

The boy, whose name was was not immediately released, was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, Bertagna said.
