Suspect In Stabbings Of 3 Transients Misses His Arraignment

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — A man charged with attempted murder in the stabbings of three homeless people has failed to appear for his arraignment, and a judge has cited medical reasons.

Superior Court Judge Shelly Torrealaba did not elaborate in court Tuesday on Courtney Anthony Robinson's medical condition.

No new court date was scheduled.

Robinson turned himself in Friday night after police appealed to the public for help in locating him.

Robinson is suspected in the July 3 attack on a 56-year-old man at Third and Main streets in downtown Los Angeles, a man stabbed July 17 on a bus bench along Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica and a homeless woman stabbed July 19 in Hollywood. Robinson allegedly left signed "death warrants" behind that were either written or typed out by him.

Santa Barbara police are investigating whether Robinson is linked to two other knife attacks on homeless men in that city.

If convicted, Robinson could face up to life in prison according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.
