1 Dead, 1 Injured After Pursuit, Officer-Involved Shooting In Fullerton
FULLERTON (CBS) — A man was killed and another was injured after a pursuit and officer-involved shooting in Fullerton Thursday night.
The chase began just after 11 p.m. when Fullerton police officers attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle.
The driver fled the scene and crashed into a fence after losing control at the intersection of Gilbert Street and Malvern Avenue. The vehicle then flipped over into a flood channel.
One of the two suspects fled the scene and ran into a tunnel, where he began firing at officers. Officers returned fire, fatally wounding the man.
The other suspect was hospitalized briefly for injuries he sustained during the crash, but is now in police custody.
Officials say the 22-year-old man is also suspected in a 2010 drive-by shooting.
No other details were immediately released.
