Dodgers Place Juan Rivera On 15-Day DL With Strained Hamstring

LOS ANGELES (CBS) - The Los Angeles Dodgers place OF Juan Rivera to the 15-day disabled list with a strained hamstring.

Rivera, 33, injured his hamstring Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants after sliding into third base in the seventh inning.

Dodgers will call up Andy Van Slyke from Triple-A Albuquerque to fill in for Rivera's spot in the outfield.

25year-old Van Slyke will be making his major league debut  with the Dodgers and was hitting .336 with 8HR's and 25 RBI's in 32 games with the Isotopes.

Rivera is hitting .247 with 2 HR's and 13 RBI's. The Dodgers will finish their 3-game series against the Giants on Wednesday with Chad Billingsly(2-2) on the mound.
