Catalina Film Festival Founder Ron Truppa Spills Secrets Of The Upcoming Event

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Celebrate movies at the Catalina Film Festival!

Ron Truppa visited the KCAL9 studios Monday to give viewers a preview of the upcoming 2012 Catalina Film Festival.

The festival runs May 4-6 and will include special guests like Stan Lee, Rachael Leigh Cook ("She's All That," "Psych"), NBC's James Scott ("Days of Our Lives"), Daniel Gillies ("Vampire Diaries," "Saving Hope"), Darren Le Gallo ("Date Night," "The Matrix Reloaded"), Scott Thompson ("Kids in the Hall," "The Pacifier").

The festival features more than 60 films, nightly events and entertainment.

Films are screened at multiple venues around the island, including the iconic, art deco, 1,200-seat Avalon Theatre-- the world's first sound theatre.

CatalinaFF is a competitive festival with awards in up to 10 categories, including the prestigious Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation "Great Communicator" Award and the ISLA Earth Award; an honor presented by the Festival's beneficiary, the Catalina Island Conservancy.
