1 Injured In Possible Gang Shooting Outside Hermosa Beach Nightclub
HERMOSA BEACH (CBS) — Police are looking for a potential gang member who shot and injured one person outside a South Bay nightclub over the weekend.
Police say several men began fighting outside of Zen Lounge, 705 Pier Avenue, around 2 a.m. Sunday when the shooting occurred.
One of the male subjects brandished a 9mm firearm and shot approximately 6 times towards the group. One person was hit by a bullet fragment, causing injury to his head, Det. Mick Gaglia of Hermosa Beach Police Department said.
Witnesses told police they heard one of the suspects yell "Long Beach Insane," a reference to a Crip gang, prior to the shooting, Gaglia said.
"A victim was not located at the time of the shooting, however a male was struck by a bullet fragment and later sought treatment at a hospital in Long Beach. The victim did not know the identity of the shooter or gang members involved," according to Gaglia.
The suspects were last seen leaving in a black Mini Cooper with large wheels, police said.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Detective Mike Frilot (310)318-0332.
