Morales Back In Angels' Lineup For First Time Since Early 2010

ANAHEIM (AP) — Although Albert Pujols' debut with the Los Angeles Angels overshadows everything this weekend, Kendrys Morales' return from nearly two years out with a broken ankle is also cause for celebration in Anaheim.

Morales was back in the Angels' lineup Friday night when Los Angeles hosted the Kansas City Royals, batting sixth as their designated hitter.

The Cuban slugger hadn't played in the majors since May 29, 2010, when he broke his left ankle while leaping onto home plate to celebrate a game-ending grand slam.

After multiple surgeries and setbacks, Morales finally made his comeback in spring training, and the Angels returned him to their lineup immediately.

Morales won't play much first base with Pujols in town, but he can ease into his comeback as a designated hitter.
