LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A forty-two year old Redondo Beach woman faces up to 15 years behind bars for having sexual relations with a male inmate while working as a federal corrections officer.

Renee Noelle Gutierrez pleaded guilty Wednesday in Los Angeles federal court to a felony charge of sexual abuse of a ward, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The offense took place in April 2010 when Gutierrez worked at the Federal Correctional Complex in Lompoc as a prison dorm supervisor responsible for more than 500 inmates.

Gutierrez resigned her position after the illegal sexual conduct was uncovered. She was indicted by a federal grand jury last August.

Gutierrez’ sentencing is scheduled for March 26.

That sucks. 15 years for sex? There are people committing murder that receive a more lenient sentence than that. What’s the big deal? This country takes sex so seriously.

In Europe she’d probably just get a suspension.

      I agree.HATER”S!

    2. lucygoosey says:

she’s not gonna get 15 yrs, it says up to, because there are other crimes considered abuse of an inmate

    Don’t drop the soap, baby!

it’s a She, women aren’t as much into rape as men in Prison.

Gutierrez, of the $70,000+ a year Salary & you cannot find a 1/2 decent man in the Free world?

Well at least she doesn’t have to worry about Mortgage Payments or Car Payments, she will have a Free place to stay for the next 15 years..

To be honest, I dont think they should have given her any jail time. I dont think it should be the courtses business who she has sex with. Shes a grown woman and should be able to make her own judgments and plus she IS a woman. If they dont like it then they shouldnt be hiring females at all male jail facilities.

Let’s see … “42-Year-Old Newport Beach Man Gets 5 Years In Prison For Sexually Molesting Girl, 12”

If this Newport Beach man got five years, I think Renee Noelle Gutierrez’s punishment should be spending five minutes in the main lobby of a federal penitentiary and then cut loose.

We all know girls like trashy guys.

A male Correction Officer would’ve been appropriate. Women in uniform are beautiful. How many male inmates would they be expressing for a good service for good behavior? The problem is everywhere in the prison and jail system. Men working for the Sheriff’s Department get caught for smuggling drugs and money in the jail wards. Women get caught in the jail or correctional facilities for illegal activities and sex. The inmate didn’t have to get sex from another inmate. This inmate got lucky. There goes her career. 15 years in prison which she enters at 42 years old. She gers out at 57. Then if Social Security doesn’t raise bar up for retirement – she will be up for retirement benefits if she qualifies. If she is let out early for good behavior – it’s humiliating to find work and have to settle for a lesser occupation and have to explain the reason for resignation or termination. And put it in writing on the job application. Unless she enters the porn business.

The problem wasn’t her having sex, it was her having sex with an inmate while working. The whole fact that she wasn’t doing her job and was having sex with one of the people she was in charge of… So wrong.

  11. Alan Di says:

Fired and a loss of pension benefits should be adequate punishment.

  12. CB says:

‘Sexual abuse of a ward’……How is that? Does she wiehg 400 lbs?

What about the inmate? Did he get his sentence reduced for good behavior?

    1. ablecynic says:

CB, he would only get a sentence reduction in a “performance based” system. ;o)

  13. Kedlle says:

Obviously many of you have never heard of PREA-Prison Rape Elimination Act. Officers learn about PREA while they are in training and also learn that sex with inamtes is considered rape, regardless of whether or not it was consensual.
