RIVERSIDE (CBS) — A tow truck driver was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on the 91 Freeway in Riverside.

The accident, just west of Monroe Street in Riverside, occurred about 2:05 a.m. Saturday.

According to authorities, the tow truck driver was loading a disabled vehicle onto his flatbed on the right shoulder when he was struck and killed by a tan sedan, according to CHP Officer Sylvia Vargas.

“According to witness reports, the tan sedan continued east on the 91 and exited the freeway at Adams Street,” Vargas said. “The sedan sustained damage to its entire right side.”
