Verizon Wireless Admits To Selling Customers' Data

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Verizon Wireless has confirmed that it actually sells customers' information directly to other businesses, including data about where its users live and what Web sites they visit.

AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile may also be selling information to third-party advertisers who then target customers with pop-up ads.

Those companies have not yet publically admitted to doing so.

Verizon changed its privacy policy last month, which has allowed the company to bundle information and sell it anonymously.
