STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Currently on a global tour, the International Coin Collectors Association (ICCA) will be making a stop in Fullerton, California to purchase coins, paper currency, gold and silver on behalf of their global network of collectors, dealers and refineries.

Bambi Smith, from the International Coin Collector's Association, stopped by KCAL9 Wednesday to talk about the upcoming event and how you can make money on old coins and jewelry during a tough economy.

This special event is free and open to the public.at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Fullerton, located at 1500 South Raymond Avenue, on Tuesday October 4 through Saturday, October 8.

Traveling from small towns to large cities, the ICCA hosts hundreds of events each year where local residents are encouraged to bring in their precious metals, old coins and paper money to earn extra cash. While meeting one-on-one with each guest, the ICCA specialists review, research and evaluate the items and will make an offer to purchase all gold coins, silver coins made before 1965 and paper money printed prior to 1934. The amount of the offer depends on the silver or gold content, the collectability, the rarity and the condition of the items. If the guest decides to accept the offer made, a check will be issued on the spot.
