SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO (CBS) — A crash involving three motorcycles  Sunday afternoon caused the closure of the Ortega Highway, state Route 74, the California Highway Patrol said.

Officials said there was one fatality.

Eastbound traffic from San Juan Capistrano was stopped at Antonio Parkway, although residents only may go east to El Cariso, the CHP said.

Westbound traffic from Lake Elsinore was being turned around at the Lake Elsinore Lookout.

The crash was first reported at 1:46 p.m. and the SigAlert was issued at 2:14 p.m.

    I know at least two were Rice Rockets. It took about 2 hours to reopen and saw to of the bikes on a flat bed at the bottom of the hill. Happened in the High Banked area about one mile east of lookout area. One motorcycle hit the guard rail sending 2 others down.
