San Bernardino County Supervisor Pleads Guilty
SAN BERNARDINO (AP) — San Bernardino County Supervisor Neil Derry has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of failing to report a campaign contribution in a deal in which two felony charges were dismissed.
The Sun of San Bernardino says the plea Tuesday followed a series of meetings with San Bernardino Superior Court Judge Michael Dest and attorneys on both sides.
Derry was placed on three years of probation and ordered to pay $10,000 in fines. The agreement allows Derry to continue serving as a county supervisor.
Derry was accused of laundering a $5,000 contribution from a supporter through a political action committee controlled by former county Assessor Bill Postmus.
After the hearing, Derry said he still maintained his innocence and agreed to the plea so he could get back to work.
