LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A man was found dead Wednesday at the side of the eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway in the Jefferson Park area of Los Angeles, authorities said.

The body was discovered about 7:30 a.m. near Crenshaw Boulevard, Los Angeles police said. The cause of death was not immediately known. The man appeared to be about 50-years-old, authorities said.

The number five lane of the eastbound freeway was closed while an investigation was conducted, California Highway Patrol officials said.

    is sad that every day you hear and read that someone has been killed another father,son,brother or uncle has bees shot to deft or run over by some one that has no moral or a heart for humanity …… I do hope this killers get caught soon …. my prayers and deepest condolences to the family … may he rest in peace … god bless

    how many times in the last …what 2 to 3 month have we seen similar stories of people just found passed away by the freeway …. So so Sad – Im so sorry for the loss to the families – just tragic…..

    Actually, he had been wrestling with a psychological condition for some time now. It is believed he committed suicide in his troubled state. I loved my uncle, one of my favorites. R.I.P. tio
