Police: Robbery Suspects Linked To Murder Of MTV Employee

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Police Thursday announced that two of three robbery suspects arrested earlier in the week in connection with a string of armed robberies in and around Mid-Wilshire, have been linked to the murder of an MTV music coordinator this past weekend.

Officials say Jabaar Vincent Thomas, 26, and Destiny Young, 29, both of Los Angeles, were arrested in connection with the shot-gun slaying of MTV's Gabriel Aron Ben-Meir, 30.

Richard Edward Anderson, 33, a resident of the San Fernando Valley, was also arrested on suspicion of robbery. It is unclear if he played any role in the fatal robbery.

Authorities said they linked the two suspects via witness statements and "other evidence" but declined to say just what that entailed.

LAPD Captain Matt Blake believes the two suspects, and accomplices, pulled off at least nine robberies in the past two weeks.

Investigators believe the suspects might also be responsible for another slaying that occurred during a robbery in the Pico-Union area on April 30.

In that robbery-homicide, Marcelo Aragon, a 35-year-old man, was shot several times with a shotgun as he walked through a residential neighborhood about 3:45 a.m.
