Granada Hills Charter High School's Academic Decathlon Team Returns Triumphant
GRANADA HILLS (CBS) — Greeted with bagpipes, applause and cheers from fellow students, teachers and parents, Granada Hills Charter High School's academic decathlon team returned to campus Wednesday as the conquering heroes.
The team won the school's first-ever state Academic Decathlon championship in Sacramento on March 14.
The team included Harsimar Dhanoa, Elysia Eastty, Shagun Goyal, Riki Higashida, Austin Kang, Jiyong "Eugene" Lee, Joon Lee, Sindhura Seeni and Celine Ta and were coached by Matt Arnold, Nicholas Weber and Spencer Wolf.
The hard work continues, however -- Granada Hills Charter High School will represent California in the U.S. Academic Decathlon Contest from April 28-30 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Last year, El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills captured the national Academic Decathlon title.
