PARIS (AP) — Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman says she is “shocked and disgusted” by a video in which designer John Galliano says he loves Adolf Hitler.

Portman says in a statement that “as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.”

Both stars work with Christian Dior. Portman is spokesmodel for Miss Dior Cherie perfume. Galliano has been suspended as Dior’s creative director pending an investigation into an alleged anti-Semitic incident in a Paris cafe last week.

Portman’s statement was provided Tuesday to The Associated Press after a video posted online showed Galliano, in a different incident, drunkenly telling a cafe patron, “I love Hitler.”

Portman won the best actress Oscar on Sunday for “Black Swan.”

So the guy has one to many drinks and says something silly and now everyone turns on him?? How ridiculous??

    1. J says:

Not sure if “ridiculous” is fair, given the subject matter. But yes, folks often say silly things when drunk, and if I think back to my own rantings, I have NEVER veered very far from my “sober” thoughts. If I did, though, I hope I’d have the courage to be honest about it…. ❤

Even if he really and truly feels that way, Mr. Galliano is entitled to his opinion. I think it’d be different if he were parading around under a white sheet and/or throwing ‘heils’ at Hitler’s image. I mean, think about it…. As much as I, too, am disgusted by what Hitler and the others like him did, for any man to take control of a country in a matter of two weeks has got to be something extraordinary. Mind you, I didn’t say he was a good man. Bottom line- we’re all entitled to our own opinions.

Well said. If some celebrity was to come out tomorrow and say that they respected Saddam Hussain and that he was unfaily treated it probably wouldn’t even be made in to a big deal!
Their just picking on someone that’s an easy target.

This guy is an IDIOT, if he truely UNDERSTOOD what the Nutzies stood for he’d realize that HE HIMSELF would have been thrown in the camps for violating the nuties DEGENERATE ART beliefs, what a tool!

No big deal. All Jews are taught that, be it all the time or just once in a drunken moment, all non-Jews hate the Jews. It was the subject of a PBS special called The Longest Hatred. The track record of the “subconscious” hatred dates back to the Roman Empire. We just happen to live in a time where these remarks that used to be private are now able to be seen worldwide.
