LOS ANGELES (AP) — Sheriff’s detectives have delivered their extortion investigation into Mel Gibson’s ex-girlfriend to prosecutors, who are now reviewing potential cases against both her and the Academy Award winner.

A Sheriff’s spokesman says detectives gave the results of their investigation into Oksana Grigorieva to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office on Wednesday.

He declined to say whether detectives are advocating that charges be filed.

The agency began investigating Grigorieva last year after Gibson claimed she tried to extort him while they were working out a child custody arrangement.

Detectives also investigated Gibson over a report that he hit the Russian musician during a fight in January 2010.

The two are locked in a custody dispute over their 16-month-old daughter, Lucia.
