Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested In Palmdale After He Allegedly Siphons Fuel From Truck

PALMDALE (CBS)  — He was wanted  for something serious and ended up being nabbed over something petty.

David Jund, suspect in a sexual assault case, was arrested Thursday in connection with a fuel theft in Palmdale.

Jund allegedly siphoned fuel from a diesel truck parked behind a store near 10th Street West and Rancho Vista Boulevard on Jan. 20, said Robbie Royster of the Palmdale sheriff's station.

The truck owner interrupted Jund and he allegedly fled the scene in his white tow truck, Royster said. The truck owner gave authorities the tow truck's license plate number and they connected it to Jund.

When detectives identified Jund they found two separate arrest warrants linked to his name -- one from the Pasadena Police Department for $185,000 related to a burglary case and a $3.05 million warrant from the Los Angeles Police Department related to a sexual assault that occurred in August, Royster said.

Jund was arrested at a home near 103rd Street East and Avenue S-14 in the Littlerock area. He is being held in lieu of $3 million bail.
