Ex-Con Arrested In Murrieta For Weapons Possession

MURRIETA (AP) — Authorities say a convicted felon in Riverside County has been arrested for possessing assault rifles and other weapons.

The Murrieta-Temecula Regional Gang Task Force said in a news release Friday that a search revealed four AK-47s, three 9-mm pistols and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition in a gun safe at the home of Trung Huynh, who lives across from a Murrieta elementary school.

Authorities say he had an Arizona post office box and identification card so he could by weapons there and bring them to California.

The task force had received a tip from federal agents who had seen Huynh at a gun show in Arizona.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise says Huynh was on probation for an assault weapons conviction in 2009.

He was released Friday after posting $25,000 bail.
