Abducted Long Beach Boy, 3, Found Safe

LONG BEACH (CBS) — A 3-year-old boy who was reportedly abducted by his father Friday night in Long Beach was found safe in Wilmington Sunday, a police spokeswoman said.

Ethan Jesus Gamez, who was reportedly taken by 24-year-old Gladimir Jesus Gamez, was reunited with his mother at the Long Beach headquarters at 12:30 p.m.

"Thank you for everybody that was helpful for getting my baby back," the tearful mother said to reporters there.

Her name will not be released and she is being relocated to a shelter for victims of domestic abuse, police said.

Gamez reportedly followed the child's mother to her home near Fourth Street and Walnut Avenue at about 11 p.m. Friday, and the two began to argue, Massacani said.

The mother put the 3-year-old into her vehicle and attempted to flee, but the father was allegedly able to remove the child from the vehicle and was last seen running north on Gaviota Avenue with the toddler.
