LONG BEACH (CBS) — One of the first babies to be born on New Year's in Southern California was Isabel Norris.

Norris, who was born at 12:01 a.m., gets the title of first baby born in Long Beach in 2011, but she may very well be first baby for the entire Los Angeles area.

Her mother, Jeannette Carter, was in labor for more than half a day. Little Isabel weighed in at 8 pounds and 1 ounce and measured just over 20 inches.

Another baby born just after midnight was Jazzelle Lluvia Solis in Downey.

Her mother, Miriam Solis, says the birth was a "great moment" for her. The little one, who is the first grandchild in her family, entered the world at 12:06 a.m.

At 12:14 a.m., a 5-pound, 13-ounce girl born at Kaiser's Baldwin Park hospital, Socorro Serrano of Kaiser Permanente said.

In the Inland Empire, an 8-pound, 1-ounce baby boy was born at the Kaiser-run Moreno Valley Community Hospital at 12:18 a.m., according to Serrano.
