Doctor Helps Bring Medical Care To Underserved Student Athletes

For more than 20 years, Dr. Clarence Shields was the healing hand behind the Los Angeles Rams, serving as the team's physician.

Even though the Rams left L.A. 15 years ago, Dr. Shields' impact on Southern California athletics has grown even stronger.

Shields offers his expertise to tens of thousands of athletes who have never received medical care through his Team Heal Foundation.

According to the foundation's Web site:

"Team HEAL provides full-time Certified Athletic Trainers to under-served public high school athletic programs. Team HEAL aims to protect the health and future of our student athletes by providing world class medical care. This includes injury prevention and treatment services, strength and conditioning, nutrition education, and exposure to careers in health related fields."
