Woman Found Dead Near Santa Ana Bus Bench Believed To Be Homicide

SANTA ANA (CBS) — Police suspect homicide in the death of a woman found next to her wheelchair at a Southern California bus stop.

Santa Ana police spokesman Anthony Bertagna says someone waiting for a bus found the woman behind a bus bench at about 5:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The woman, who appeared to be in her 50s, had no identification. The woman's family later identified her as 57-year-old Rosemarie Sylvia Lopez of Santa Ana.

Bertagna says she had injuries to her upper body that led investigators to believe she was killed. An autopsy will be held to determine the cause of her death.

Bertagna tells the Orange County Register it's possible the woman got into a fight, was robbed or fell out of her wheelchair.

Anyone with information about the case can call (714) 245-8400.
