Final Arguments In Anna Nicole Trial Get Underway
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Closing arguments have begun in Los Angeles in the drug conspiracy trial of Anna Nicole Smith's boyfriend and two doctors.
The prosecution began addressing the jurors after the judge spent 40 minutes instructing them on the law that will govern their decisions.
Howard K. Stern, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Dr. Khristine Eroshevich have pleaded not guilty to giving the former Playboy model excessive drugs while knowing she was an addict. They are not charged in her 2007 overdose death.
Superior Court Judge Robert Perry told jurors Monday that their verdicts must not be influenced by sympathy or public opinion. He told jurors that a conspiracy conviction must only be reached if the defendants agreed commit the alleged crimes.
The case could go to the jury Wednesday or Thursday.
