Stater Bros. Offers Breast Cancer Drug For Free

RIVERSIDE (CBS/CNS) — Stater Bros.' pharmacies will offer the breast cancer medication Tamoxifen free in October to those with prescriptions as part of the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Individuals with a prescription for Tamoxifen can receive a no-cost 30-day supply of the drug from any Stater Bros. pharmacy any time during the month of October, according to the company.

Tamoxifen is an estrogen-regulator used to help prevent a recurrence of breast cancer.

The National Cancer Institute estimates roughly 207,000 women and 2,000 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and more than 40,000 people will die from the disease.
