Man Admits To Molesting Relatives For 20+ Years

SANTA ANA (CBS 2) — Officials say a 45-year-old Tustin man admitted today to sexually molesting female relatives for more than 20 years.

Jose Rene Giles pleaded guilty to four felony counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor, two felony counts of a lewd act on a child ages 14 or 15, a felony count of unlawful sexual intercourse, and a felony count of incest, according to court records.

Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 19, according to court records.

The molestations dates back more than 20 years. According to Deputy District Attorney Robert Mestman the first known incident occured in January 1, 1988. The last incident Giles was charged with occurred Dec. 31, 2008, according to court records.

One female relative last year reported the abuse to a therapist, Mestman said. The girl, who was 17 at the time, told authorities Giles had been molesting her on and off since she was 8 years old.

The woman told authorities he stopped for two years when she moved away from home when she was 12.

The molestation resumed when she was 14 and he had sex with her when she was 15, Mestman said.

The girl told authorities she thought Giles fondled another female relative, Mestman said. Giles was accused of fondling that girl when she was 9 and 13 years old, Mestman said, adding the victim is 29 years old now.
