256-Acre Blaze In Banning Under Investigation
BANNING, Calif. (AP) — A brush fire that scorched 256 acres in a canyon north of Banning remains under investigation.
The Riverside County Fire Department says three fire crews, two engines and a water tender will remain on the scene Wednesday for mop-up operations and to improve containment lines.
Flames erupted shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday and were finally knocked down about three hours later. The cause has not been determined.
Mapping of the fire area shows it was more than twice as large as the 110 acres reported late Tuesday.
