Whether it’s a Douglas fir or Monterey pine, natural green or flocked, the Christmas tree is the iconic symbol of the holiday season. While some tree shoppers choose artificial trees made to look like the traditional evergreen conifers, others seek pre-cut trees hauled in from miles away and propped in the corner of an empty parking lot. For those Christmas tree purists in Orange County who want to hand pick the tree with the perfect spread of branches and ideal scent of pine, there are several Christmas tree farms within driving distance that bring the nostalgia of childhood back to the holiday season.

The Leyland cypress is one of the most sought-after Christmas trees with its arrangements of light and dark green branches. The Monterey pine is native to California and has long needles and a pleasant fragrance. Both are picture perfect for decorating and to place wrapped gifts under. The farm also sells pre-cut Oregon trees such as Douglas and Fraser firs.
