Help Needed To ID Robber Who Ripped Gold Chain From 90-Year-Old Man's Neck

CULVER CITY (CBSLA.com) — Police asked for the public's help Wednesday in identifying a man who ripped a gold chain from the neck of a 90-year-old man at a Culver City mall.

Victor Toledo says a man approached him and asked him for money as he ate lunch and read a newspaper at the food court of the Westfield Shopping Center in Culver City on Nov. 16.

When Toledo refused, the man threw him to the floor, ripped the gold chains from Toledo's neck, and took his wallet, which contained $400 in cash.

Images of the suspect were captured on security cameras as he fled from the mall on foot.

He was described as a black man between 25 and 30 years old, about 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He wore sleeveless undershirt, American flag shorts and red sneakers.

Anyone with information about the crime or the identity of the suspect can contact Culver City police Detective Brent Arney at (310) 253-6347.
