Driver Who Led Police On Bizarre Chase In Blue Mustang Arrested Again

WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The driver who led police on a bizarre slow-speed pursuit across Los Angeles County last month has been arrested again.

Herschel Reynolds, 20, gained notoriety last month by doing donuts on Hollywood Boulevard during a chase that began in Cerritos ended in South LA.

Monday night, UCLA police confirmed that Reynolds was back behind bars. Investigators said while he was out on bail, he was riding a motorcycle along Strathmore Drive on UCLA's campus when he hit the bumper of an SUV.

Police said when the driver tried to call 911, Reynolds tried to take his phone. When that didn't work, police said the 20 year-old ran the driver over with his motorcycle, knocking him to the ground.

Reynolds took off, but not before someone took pictures of him. Police said the photos helped lead them to Reynolds' South L.A. home and arrested him Saturday night. He is being held on $75,000 bail.

Reynolds is a former Marine Corps driver at Camp Pendleton. He was discharged in January. Authorities said Reynolds "character of service was incongruent with the Marine Corps' expectations and standards."

The SUV driver is expected to be OK.
