Friday Night Shooting Perplexes Friends Of Real Estate Mogul, Philanthropist

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Friends of a real estate mogul and philanthropist shot Friday night while sitting in a Rolls Royce in Hollywood parking lot are perplexed over the incident.

Kameron Segal was shot once in the face and once in the throat by a man who fled on a bicycle after the incident in a parking lot near Gardner Street and Sunset Boulevard.

Mytchell Mora told CBS2's Adrianna Weingold that he rushed to the hospital Saturday morning to check on his good friend.

"I was in a state of shock my heart dropped, I couldn't even find words to put together," Mora said.

Segal is also a humanitarian, well known for giving away apartments to homeless people in need of a hand up. The thought of someone shooting his friend is disturbing to Mora, who helps Segal with his charitable work.

"His soul and his humanity, I believe, is more important than what he's worth because that is what we need in this type of community," Mora said.

Police said Segal was brought to a nearby hospital following the shooting, and is in stable condition. On Satrurday, his friends visited him in person and posted well wishes online, hoping the man who gives so much will get better soon.

"Kameron is one of the most beautiful people I've ever met in my life," Mora said. "He's a wonderful friend, someone I aspire to be like."

Authorities are still looking for a suspect, and ask that anyone in the area of Gardner and Sunset Friday night contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
